WINDSHIFT PRESS SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Windshift Press provides the independent author with all of the support required to make your publishing experience a stress free event. We offer the structure, the resources, and the media contacts for you to successfully publish and market your book. Our staff includes professional editors, cover designers, book layout and marketing professionals. We obtain competitive print quotes. We offer international distribution for your book. Our staff has international qualifications and many years experience in the book trade. We only accept manuscripts that we feel have market potential.
You retain 100% of your rights.Windshift Press doesn't take a cent in royalties. You pay for our services to have your book printed and marketed. We itemize our services so that you understand exactly what you are paying for. There are no hidden charges. Your book remains in print as long as you want it to be. All profits are returned directly to you.
We expect our authors to take an active part in the ongoing promotion of their books. Ask yourself if you can realistically generate a few hundred sales within the first three months. You can include your strategies for this in the marketing plan in your submission package. We do accept unsolicited manuscripts but a familiarity with our publishing list will give you a better idea if your manuscript is likely to be successful. We receive many submissions each month and expect to publish 10 -12 titles each year.
If you would like your entire submission returned please say so and include sufficient postage to cover the return. If you are submitting from outside Canada, please include an international reply coupon, which you can purchase at your post office. Otherwise, you will receive a single page response and we will recycle your proposal.

Poetry: At this time we are not considering poetry manuscripts.

Literary Fiction: 15 - 15 pages, double-spaced, 2 page synopsis, brief bio/publication history, suggested marketing plan [i.e. who will buy your book], cover letter and SASE.

Commercial Fiction: 10 - 15 pages, double-spaced, 2 page synopsis, brief bio/publication history, suggested marketing plan [i.e. who will buy your book], cover letter and SASE.

Literary Non-Fiction: [autobiography, biography, essays etc.] 10 - 15 pages, double-spaced, chapter by chapter synopsis, brief bio/publication history, suggested marketing plan [i.e. who will buy your book], cover letter and SASE.

Commercial Non- Fiction: 10 - 15 pages, double-spaced, chapter by chapter synopsis, brief bio/publication history, suggested marketing plan [i.e. who will buy your book], cover letter and SASE.

Note: We do not publish highly technical books, books containing gratuitous sex or violence or books other wise in bad taste.

Response Time: Between three weeks and two months. It is our goal to read all proposals within a month. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes up to two months.
